USA Visit Visa (B1/B2) from Pakistan

The B1/B2 visitor visa covers tourism, family visits and short business trips — decided almost entirely on the strength of your interview and your ties to Pakistan.

  • Visa typeB1 / B2 visitor visa
  • InterviewRequired at the consulate
  • Typical validityOften issued multi-entry, long validity

Overview — visiting USA

The United States issues a single combined visitor visa — B1 for business, B2 for tourism and family — and for most Pakistani applicants both categories are granted together as B1/B2. What makes the US different from every other destination on this page is that the decision is made by a consular officer in a face-to-face interview that usually lasts two to three minutes. There is no file to hand over and no points to score. The officer is deciding one thing under section 214(b) of US law: whether you have shown that your life is rooted in Pakistan and that you intend to return. Your documents exist to support what you say, not to replace it. That is why we spend more time on your story and your answers than on stacking paper.

Why visit USA?

The classic trip of a lifetime

New York, the national parks, Disney, Las Vegas and the California coast — the itinerary most families plan once and remember forever.

Family reunions

A large Pakistani-American community means graduations, weddings and first grandchildren are the most common reason people apply.

Business and trade

Meetings, contract negotiations, trade fairs and conferences all sit inside B1 activity.

Long validity when granted

Visitor visas for Pakistani nationals are commonly issued with multi-year validity, so one approval can cover several trips.

Medical and educational visits

Consultations at US hospitals and short courses or seminars are permitted within visitor rules.

Top tourist attractions

  • Statue of Liberty and Times Square, New York
  • Grand Canyon National Park, Arizona
  • Walt Disney World and Universal, Orlando
  • Las Vegas Strip and the Nevada desert
  • Golden Gate Bridge and San Francisco Bay
  • Yellowstone and Yosemite National Parks
  • Niagara Falls, New York State
  • Washington DC monuments and Smithsonian museums
  • Miami Beach and the Florida Keys
  • Hollywood and Los Angeles

  • A completed DS-160 online application and paid MRV fee
  • A visa interview appointment at the US consulate
  • Evidence of strong ties to Pakistan — employment, business, property, family
  • Financial means to cover the trip without working in the US
  • A clear, honest travel purpose and a plan to return before the permitted stay ends
  • No history of overstay, misrepresentation or immigration violation

General guidance only — requirements differ by applicant profile and immigration rules change without notice. We confirm the current position before you apply.

Required documents

  • Valid passport and all previous passports
  • DS-160 confirmation page and appointment letter
  • MRV fee receipt
  • Photograph to the exact US specification
  • Bank statements for the last six to twelve months

Your final checklist depends on your purpose of travel and personal circumstances. We confirm it in writing before you start collecting.

Processing information

After the DS-160 is submitted and the fee is paid, an interview appointment is booked at the consulate. Waiting times for interview slots in Pakistan move with demand and can be long in peak months, so applying early matters more here than almost anywhere else. The decision is usually indicated at the interview itself, and approved passports are returned through the courier service in a matter of days. Some applications are placed under administrative processing, which adds an unpredictable period and cannot be hurried by anyone.

General guidance only. We do not promise timelines — no consultant controls them.

Visa validity and stay

When approved, B1/B2 visas for Pakistani nationals are frequently issued as multiple-entry with several years of validity. The visa itself only allows you to travel to a port of entry — the length of each stay is set by the CBP officer on arrival and recorded on your I-94, commonly up to six months. Never confuse visa validity with permitted stay.

General guidance only. Your grant notice or visa is the final word on validity, entries and conditions.

Travel tips for USA

  • Answer only what is asked at the interview — short, honest, confident answers work better than rehearsed speeches.
  • Carry your documents in an organised folder, but expect that the officer may not look at them.
  • Your I-94 record, not your passport stamp, controls how long you may remain. Check it online after arrival.
  • Do not book non-refundable tickets before the visa is issued.
  • Declare food items, cash over the limit and medicines at customs — the fine for not declaring is worse than the item.
  • Travel insurance is not mandatory for entry but US medical costs make it close to essential.
  • Keep the same story across your DS-160, your interview answers and your documents. Inconsistency is the single most common reason for refusal.

USA visit visa — frequently asked questions

How long does a US visit visa take from Pakistan?

The controlling factor is the interview appointment wait, which varies through the year and can run to several months in busy periods. Once the interview is done, an approved passport is normally returned within about a week unless the case goes into administrative processing.

Is a bank statement enough to get a B1/B2 visa?

No. Money in an account proves you can pay for the trip; it does not prove you will come back. Officers weigh employment, business, family and property together with finances, and a large balance that appeared last month usually hurts rather than helps.

Can I apply if I was refused before?

Yes, there is no waiting period. But a fresh application with the same profile and the same answers will usually get the same result. We read your refusal, identify what actually changed since then, and only recommend reapplying when something real has changed.

Do I need an invitation letter from a relative in the US?

It is not mandatory. It helps to explain your purpose when you are visiting family, but it does not transfer their status to you — the officer still assesses your own ties to Pakistan.

Can my family apply together?

Yes. Each applicant files a separate DS-160 and pays a separate fee, but families are normally interviewed together. Children under a certain age may be eligible to have the interview waived.

Can I work or study on a B1/B2 visa?

No. Employment is not permitted, and only short recreational courses are allowed. Working on a visitor visa is a serious immigration violation.

What is administrative processing?

An additional review the consulate may carry out after the interview. There is no fixed timeline and no way to expedite it. The passport is held until it clears.

Does Sky Heights guarantee approval?

No, and no honest consultant can. The decision belongs to the consular officer. What we can do is make sure your profile is presented truthfully and completely, and tell you before you pay whether applying now makes sense.
